We are a specialty nursery dedicated to providing the best
cold-hardy, disease-resistant roses for zones 4 and 5 and all the
information needed to grow them. We approach life, gardening, and
roses with passion, and enjoy sharing this passion with fellow
gardeners. Our love of all aspects of growing roses is what
started us in business and keeps our business expanding each year.
The nursery is on the grounds of our home. As a small, family-run
operation, we offer individual attention and high-quality plants
grown in an environmentally conscious manner. Our potting mix uses
a minimum of peat, a nonrenewable resource. We use no chemical
sprays.
One of my interests is exploring the broad range of roses that
grow beautifully in our climate but are not widely available. I
spend a great deal of time researching and traveling each year to
find new roses and old forgotten roses that do well here, and our
collection is unique.
Our extensive display beds are grouped by type—antique roses (gallicas,
albas, damasks, mosses, hybrid perpetuals, Scots roses), climbers
and ramblers, hybrid rugosas, Griffith Buck roses, Kordes roses,
Canadian Explorer roses, and locally found or rustled roses.
We offer some of the newest roses developed by Kordes and Sohne of Germany as well as some of their oldies but goodies. Please look for them in our listings. They are among our favorites. Kordes was the 2007 Great Rosarian of the World.
Bill Radler is the 2008 Great Rosarian of the World. He is best
known for his ‘Knockout’ series of roses. For some reason, his
climbers have not been well marketed and are not widely available.
We think they are outstanding and among the most disease
resistant, floriferous climbers available today. We offer both of
his new climbers.
